I have been privileged to discover a side to Majorca that tourists do not often have the chance to see: its fabulous Mediterranean homes - each one unique, but always delightful, surprising and elegant. Majorca is an incredibly hospitable and welcoming island precisely because life is so good here. Perhaps that is why its interior design and décor stores are quite simply superb, on a par with New York, where I live, and Paris or Milan. Do not miss the chance to rummage through its markets, where there is always a bargain to be found – although the greatest fun is to be had in hunting them down.

Spending last Christmas at my mother’s Majorcan-style house in Es Canyar, surrounded by friends from my Swiss boarding school days. And their partners and children. And nobody else! It was fabulous fun.
