He tenido el privilegio de conocer una Mallorca pocas veces mostrada al turista. La de las casas maravillosas, mediterráneas siempre pero distintas, sorprendentes, elegantes. En  Mallorca se recibe muy bien porque se vive muy bien. Quizás por eso sus tiendas de decoración son magnificas, de nivel similar al de Nueva York, donde vivo, París o Milán. Busquen también en sus mercadillos, con gangas más que apetecibles, o en los rastros, pero busquen. En Mallorca lo divertido es buscar.

Pasar las navidades últimas en Es Canyar, la casa mallorquina de mi madre, rodeada de mis amigas del internado suizo.

                                

 

I have been privileged to discover a side to Majorca that tourists do not often have the chance to see: its fabulous Mediterranean homes - each one unique, but always delightful, surprising and elegant. Majorca is an incredibly hospitable and welcoming island precisely because life is so good here. Perhaps that is why its interior design and décor stores are quite simply superb, on a par with New York, where I live, and Paris or Milan. Do not miss the chance to rummage through its markets, where there is always a bargain to be found – although the greatest fun is to be had in hunting them down. 

 

Caprice.

 

Spending last Christmas at my mother’s Majorcan-style house in Es Canyar, surrounded by friends from my Swiss boarding school days. And their partners and children. And nobody else! It was fabulous fun. 

                                

 

Ich hatte das Privileg, Mallorca von einer Seite kennenzulernen, die Touristen nur selten zu sehen bekommen. Die Insel mit den großartigen Häusern, mediterran, aber immer wieder anders, überraschend, elegant. Auf Mallorca gibt es sehr gute Empfänge, denn man lebt sehr gut. Vielleicht ist das der Grund dafür, dass die Dekorationsgeschäfte so fantastisch sind, etwa auf demselben Niveau wie die von New York, wo ich lebe, Paris oder Mailand. Aber auch auf den Straßenmärkten sollte man suchen, dort gibt es preiswertere Schnäppchen, oder auf den Flohmärkten, auf jeden Fall sollte man suchen. Auf Mallorca macht es Spaß, zu suchen.

 

Kaprice.

 

Das Weihnachtsfest in Es Canyar, dem Haus meiner Mutter auf Mallorca, zusammen mit meinen Freundinnen aus dem Schweizer Internat. Mit ihren Partnern und Kindern. Und sonst keiner! Das war herrlich.

                                

 

Мне посчастливилось узнать настоящую Мальорку, которую мало показывают туристам. Великолепные дома, неизменно в средиземноморском стиле, и вместе с тем не похожие друг на друга, удивительные и элегантные. На Мальорке прекрасно принимают, потому что там хорошо живут. Возможно, именно поэтому магазины товаров для художественного оформления интерьеров просто великолепны, на уровне Нью-Йорка, в котором я живу, Парижа или Милана. Поищите что-нибудь удачное и выгодное на мальоркинских базарах или блошиных рынках. Искать на Мальорке - очень увлекательное занятие. 

 

Каприз.

 

Провести последние рождественские праздники в Эс-Каньяр, мальоркинском доме моей матери,  в окружении подруг по швейцарскому интернату. С семьями и детьми. И никого больше! Это было просто замечательно.
