Local visits

The Nuevo Pueblo Español offers a sample of the broad architectural heritage of Spain in one location. We have a range of group tours of this replica walled medieval city for schools, associations or the elderly, to name a few.

In addition to the buildings that make up The Nuevo Pueblo Español groups can also visit two permanent exhibitions - an explanation of the thesis that claims Christopher Columbus was Majorcan - and the life of H.R.H. Don Felipe de Borbon from birth until his coronation as King of Spain in 2014.

Tourist visit

duration approx. 45 minutes.

  • Christ of the Lanterns: One of the most emblematic places in the city of Cordoba. The Plaza of the Capuchins was built in the XVII century and takes its name from the conven of the Capuchin monks. In its centre is an image from 1794 of a Christ surrounded by eight lanterns which was the work of the sculptor Juan Navarro Leon.

  • Arab Baths: A replica of the Arab baths of the Jewish quarter of Granada. The Arabs took the idea of making bath time a social event from the romans. Although it had religious significance they maintained the habit that men and women use separately. It consisted of three parts: frigidarium (cold water), tepidarium (warm water) and caldarium (hot water).

  • Patio de los Arrayanes (the Alhambra of Granada) - next to the Patio of the Lions, this is one of the most recognised places in the Alhambra which was built in the XIII century. The courtyard is from the 14th century and takes its name from the shrubs called Arrayanes, or myrtles, which are located on either side of the pond. The inscriptions on the wall are an exact copy of the original which can be seen in Granada.

  • Exposure Christopher Columbus: Christopher Columbus did not disclose his origin, not even to his own children, which has fuelled various theories about where he came from and prompted denials that he was from Genovés. Some believe he was the illegitimate son of the Prince of Viana (stepbrother of Fernando the Catholic King) and a young girl called Margarita who lived in Felanitx, in the southeast of Mallorca.

  • Barrio Andaluz: Un conjunto de casas que muestra una de las caras más bellas de Andalucía: sus casas encaladas componiendo calles estrechas que permiten conservar un ambiente fresco a pesar del calor reinante durante muchos meses en Andalucía.

  • Plaza Fray Luis de Leon: This is a meeting point for several samples of the architecture of the centre and the north of Spain, including the stark former prison of Segovia, where Lope de Vega was once held. It collapsed in the mid-1600’s and was rebuilt in the 18 century.

  • Plaza de Santa María: In this square we find the beautiful palace of the Provincial Council of Barcelona (currently the headquarters of the Generalitat of Catalonia), Munariz Palace of Toledo, the Church of Torralba of Ribota of Zaragoza and the tower and facade of the Church of Santa Catalina in Valencia, All surrounding an exact replica of the cathedral of Burgos.

  • Plaza Mayor: This is a typical example of a Spanish square and the nerve centre of village life. Its trapezoidal shape brings together the Town Hall of Vergara (Guipúzcoa) and the main squares of Navalcarnero and Chinchón, both of which are in Madrid.
